WHISPERED SHOGUNATE MACABRE DOWNLOAD

FrozenVain March 8th Comments. Whereas most of the 'weeaboos' you find lurking on the most cringeworthy recesses of the internet tend to love Japan for their pop culture and wide-eyed animation, Whispered - in true folk metal spirit- ventures into a mythologized path for their inspiration. This time around, Whispered have fired their keyboardist which also took care of the programming related to the japanese instruments. It's catchy without being simple or mainstream. Few explicit references are given, but Shogunate Macabre is generally effective with its lyrics. whispered shogunate macabre

I also think that the whispers in the vocals add a lot to that and so do the lyrics. For one, I wish the bass was slightly louder, but this lack of volume does not really hurt the album.

The keyboard usage has been slightly cut down and is utilized at more appropriate times to add to the epicness of the music. The intro in this song came straight out of a horror movie and the atmosphere it creates makes it the perfect song to put in your headphones if you want to go on a psychotic killing spree! Who on earth would see that coming?

Sounding more Japanese than a good deal of Japanese metal bands I've heard, the strangely named Whispered brings a dose of freshness to the melodic wgispered metal framework. The slower songs inject some interesting bits from time to time, like the aforementioned sax solo or the frequent clean vocals in "One Man's Burden", though I can't say the songs are improved too horribly much due to their inclusion.

It's cool that someone else enjoyed this.

Whispered seems to have gotten their ducks in a row for Shogunate Macabrealbeit at the cost of some of the spontaneity present on Thousand Swords. When you remove the aspects of the songs taken from far eastern musical ideas, the band sounds like a typical Finnish melodeath outfit. They are not trying to create a sound where the metal and folk elements blend into a smooth, seamless whole.

Other maccabre these few quirks, not much wrong can be found with this album. Give them some respect guys! What's more, Whispered failed to fully realize the appeal and fell back into stock melodic death riffing passages when the allure of the keyboards began to wane. In live performances, notice how they're simplified, removed entirely, or attempted as they are with less-than-optimal results.

Shogunate Macabre trumps it's predecessor in this regard, as the band finally injects the Eastern melodies and harmonics fully into the riffs and leadwork.

So really, your mileage my vary, but for me, in regards to my personal eccentricities, this is the kind of album I've been silently praying for for years. Shogunate Macabre is similar to their latest album in many ways but it brings a completely different ambience.

I absolutely love the bit where a poetic voice describes the August Star of Heaven also some mythological thing here coming down and admiring the chaos with pride while some fantastic choirs sing the sound of glory! There are some sections where the orchestral bombast gets a little too lurid and exaggerated, mostly during the intro of "Upon My Honor", but even that song manages to evolve into a rightfully epic end cap by the time it wraps up.

Whispered – Shogunate Macabre

His screams have that parched, dessicated quality that is normally associated with Petri Lindroos, so a bit of a mixed bag on that one. All of them flow like water, like they were meant to band together and tell you a story. That's why the Japanese culture is present in their wgispered as well as the beautiful folk Asian elements you hear from time to time.

Also much like a blockbuster, I do not feel as if I've left the experience feeling particularly enriched. I'm not entirely sure whether to approach Whispered and their second LP Shogunate Macabre as a by-product of globalization, or a sure sign that the metal community is beginning the growing lack of yet-unexplored fusions and permutations left for them to exploit.

Again, not even one of the mcabre fights against the other one for dominance. There is otherwise sshogunate regard for Japan's rich compositional theory.

This sounds pretty cool actually so I might check it out. Like their neighbours in Kalmah, Whispered play a blend of hyperkinetic melodeath infused with power metal. L4titudes March 8th Comments. Discussing either might lead to the implication I don't care for the album I do!

Similarly, there are a few points that sound like dead ringers xhogunate the sort of thing COB would make after staying up all night watching Akira Kurosawa movies. Again, similarly to Kalmah or Shade Empire, they use layers of keyboards to build sonicscapes that illustrate a concept.

The rhythm section drums and bass have slightly improved in terms of technicality, but are not anything to drool over. I was clearly impressed by their skills and virtuosity from the very first audition and after hearing their latest album "Metsutan - Songs of the Void" I just couldn't stop myself from digging deeper into their stuff.
